As you may or may not already know, we have been in the web design industry for over 10 years. In that time we have seen many difference CMS’s and Ecommerce platforms come and go… The stand out product was once WordPress coupled with Woocommerce, but now we are preferring Shopify over that solution due to the 5 reasons below:
- Setup time:
Shopify is geared 100% towards selling online, so there are efficiencies that being so targeted will bring. Because of the quicker setup time, we are able to provide custom Shopify setups for less than cost when comparing to a Woocommerce setup. - Long-term cost:
While you are paying more in monthly fees, you are actually getting great value in automatic updates, free support, and ability to handle spikes in traffic. - Maintenance:
A Woocommerce needs monthly maintenance, otherwise cracks start to appear. Websites need to be up to date with security, browser versions, and changes in screen resolutions. Shopify takes care of most of this for you. - Apps:
I prefer using Apps in Shopify, as they are usually very well made, compared to some WordPress Plugins. This is because most are paid, and therefore it is in the best interest of all parties that they work well. They are also most geared towards selling, so its easier to wade through the results. Also, only Shopify store owners that have installed the Apps can rate and review them, making it easy to tell the best performers. - Payments:
The setup of payments, especially Shopify Payments, is much more straight forward than it is in Woocommerce.
